99 Granny Squares To Crochet (Leisure Arts #3078)

This book arrived quickly. The print is decently sized. The pictures are all squashed onto a few pages and numbered to corresponding pattern numbers. That makes things fussy and difficult when working a new one. This book is good for learning new stitches, but is not for beginners. Some medium knowledge of crochet is necessary to understand the directions. However there is a stitch instruction at the beginning of the pattern for the"trickier" stitches. The patterns I have tried have turned out nicely except number 29, the star. There seems to be an error in the round 2/3 area that gets you a hexagon later when trying to square off. I've ripped it out and redone it three times with the same result. As well as having a friend do it.So far though, that's the only one. Ill keep this book, but I definitely would not get it for anyone else.Product details

99 Granny Squares to Crochet edition by Leisure Arts Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
Great descriptions for crocheting but like others have said, a pain to find the photo page if you are using the online version, as well as no pictures accompanying each pattern page.
I'm very excited for this weekend; I have colored yarns, my hooks and time to crochet! There are so many patterns in this book and I've already planned out an afghan using at LEAST 5 different types of squares. I kind of wish I'd bought it last August though, as the winter could really have benefited from a nice, warm, cozy afghan. Oh well! There's always this winter!
Several complaints...a familiar theme from previous reviews is the bad photography. I have several Leisure Arts books, and must say that so far, this is the worst. No charts...some of us need more reference than just the abbreviated directions. This may be perfect for old hands at crochet, but some newbies (like me) need a bit more in the way of visuals. As noted in other reviews, corresponding photos on the SAME page as the directions would be really helpful. I sure do wish I had read the other reviews before I bought this book, as I would not have spent the money otherwise.
This crochet book is great, so many ideas to make these, so glad I ran across this....thank you
Even though I was able to find this book for free (illeglally on internet) I'm really happy I bought it. As others have rightfully said, a weak point is that the photos are all gathered together instead of being each alone with the pattern. Also, the size of the square is not given. But there are some really interesting squares (not all are square actually) and there are many well known people who contributed them. The price is right too. For granny lovers this is highly recommended.
I am IN LOVE with this book! All of the patterns are fantastic! The ONLY gripe I have about this book is that it doesn't suggest hook size or completed square (or other shape) sizes. That would be nice to have at least for a starting point. However, I didn't mind working each of the patterns and writing in the size hook I need to make the squares.
I have the kindle version of this and there are NO pictures of any of the squares. It is like a random guessing game, I just have to crochet it and see how it might look. That is frustrating enough to give this book low stars. If you are going to do something, do it right - and by that I mean if you are going to have a book or e-book of PATTERNS show PICTURES OF THOSE PATTERNS.
Alright editing this to add that after scrolling thru the ENTIRE e-book I did locate a handful of photos of a number of the patterns on a page. So technically there are photos of the squares, they are just nearly impossible to locate in the e-book for reference.
