Defiant Surrender A Medieval Time Travel Romance edition by Tamara Gill Romance eBooks
This is my first book from Tamara Gill but it will not be my last. I could not put this book down! The plot was captivating and the characters were charming and wonderful. Loved 21st century Madeline. She had spunk and was fearless. Displaced by 900 years, she was able to face medieval times and men courageously. William, Madeline's husband, hated his wife at first due to an old family feud. But once he got to know 21st century Madeline, he fell madly in love with her. Madeline also fell in love with William and their love transcended time. I truly enjoyed this book!Tags : Defiant Surrender: A Medieval Time Travel Romance - Kindle edition by Tamara Gill. Defiant Surrender A Medieval Time Travel Romance edition by Tamara Gill Romance eBooks Reviews
this was my first time travel romance novel. I generally ignore them because they seem to all be the same based on reviews. This book was a fun read. The story remains ended me of a wonderful book I read in the 90's. It was "A Knight In Shinning Armour" by Jude Deveraux. A book I have read over and over again since then. This new book is a keeper. I loved the characters and the story was very well constructed. I enjoyed the tension between Maddy and William and how their love developed. Don't want to spoil the ending but it won't disappoint. I highly recommend this book. It was interesting and fun to read.
Maddie time travels to medieval times when she finds an old ring. There she married a Baron and eventually falls in love with him. But politics and nasty people, plot her demise. She goes back to the 21st century in order to prevent her husbands death. Then he uses the ring to go to her time. A truely delightful time travel romance. Absolutely loved it !!!!!
I really wanted to like this book. The storyline is decent, showing a good imagination on the part of the author. However, there are huge holes in the development of the characters and in the author's own time travel premise. The characters don't stay true to the personality traits and culture-based roles assigned to them, making them difficult to relate to and enjoy. The time travel plot device works one way throughout the entire book, then completely changes to suit an abrupt, odd, and disappointing storyline resolution. The grammatical errors found throughout this book are atrocious. Even the simple rules of apostrophe usage - the difference between possessive and plural - are repeatedly abused and/or ignored. I rarely leave a book unfinished, even a poorly written one, but I had to force myself to push through to the end of this story. I realize that poor grammar usage and a lack of good editing are probably more of a personal pet peeve to me than to other readers, but I found this book to be more frustrating than entertaining to read. Unless this author makes use of a good editor, I will probably not read any of her additional works.
I do not like time travel books but was did like this one. The book starts in the present time in London Maddie St. Clair ran an antique store .She also went mud larking searching for ancient treasures. She found a ring and when she put it on she was taken back to the year 1102. She is now Lady Madeline Vincent on her way to marry . Baron William Dowell was being forced to marry her by Kings Decree. Her father is this life is his worst enemy. He also is keeping his wanton mistress at the castle so Maddie has a lot of strikes against her to begin with . William does develop feeling and she over time. I had not read time travel before so not sure the ending is the same as in other books. I was not sure if it would end up HEA . I also like the book as it was a medieval romance my favorite kind. I have read this author before and like her work.
2 1/2 stars. Ok. I love time travel romances. This one was a little unrealistic to me--I know, it is a TIME TRAVEL Romance, so realism shouldn't even come into play. However, I felt something was not sitting right with me. The heroine did not act like I would think a 21st century woman thrust into the 12th century would. Not that I expect hysterics, but she seemed to adapt way too quickly to everything going on. Actually, everyone who seemed to find out about her coming from the future seemed to accept it too well. Kind of like "oh well, that makes sense". The time line also moved very quickly. The romance side was decent, but I sometimes did not feel an emotional connection between the H and the h. Ending on the H's side a bit weird for me, and I did not like the "surprise villain". I know I wrote a lot of dislikes, but I didn't hate it. I thought the author told a good story, and her writing style flows well and is easy to read. I would probably try another book by this author, but I probably will not be reading this one again.
This ended as a lovely and endearing story. I did not like Lord William for half of the book. What man would allow his wife to get hit in the face and not kick the person who did it out ASAP. Or sleep with someone else on his wedding night or allow his mistress to taunt his wife. Maddy was almost as bad with her acceptance of his cheating and feeling sorry for his mistress. I hated that Alex wasn't who you thought he was. Despite all that, the story was full of twists and turns but could have been so much better.
I thought this was a very good book. The writing was good and there was just enough spice to keep the romance aspect going. There were a few romance scenes that were quite spicy but nothing too explicit, in my opinion. This was an easy read, the characters were likeable and the storyline kept my interest through out the book. If you want to know exactly what happens in this story, read some of the other reviews. I don't want to give anything away. If you enjoy time travel romance, you will probably enjoy this book.
