This is such a wonderful story! I really adored it. The wounded hero is awesome and the depiction of his healing journey truly realistic. I loved that the author, Roseanne Beck, a physician, didn’t sugarcoat his challenges and made him all nimble and quick. There’s a lot of pain – physical and psychological –, changes, adaptation to a new reality and resilience, but the rhythm and pace of it all are excellent.
Austin and Laura are both great characters and the dialogue between them (and the other, also great, characters) is vivid, full of humor, and a delight to read.
I usually don’t go for the present tense narrative, but in this case I enjoyed it and was completely absorbed by the story. Even the paranormal twist is compelling and full of resonances.

Talk to Me edition by Roseanne Beck Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This was a fun read with snarky humor and romance with two people overcoming tragedy to balance it out. These two are both afraid of commitment and are both dealing with their own loss, but they manage to find love and acceptance in each other and in themselves. I really enjoyed this book. After reading the negative reviews for this book I couldn't believe they had read the same book that I did, or else they have never dealt with the emotional problems the main characters had. If I were suffering either of these debilitating losses now (as I have in the past) I would not want these negative people trying to get me through it, healing does not come by being called, childish and immature, it takes love and positive reinforcement. I voluntarily agreed to read and review a copy of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. Austin's life has changed after his car accident not only is he dealing with overcoming a disability but now he can hear dead people. Laura's life has also been altered but hers is because her brother took his own life. Austin and Laura come together when they meet while she is visiting her Aunt who leave across the hall. I really liked the concept of this book and I did like the characters and I felt like they were good as a couple. This is really more than a falling in love story it is a story about two people who are struggling with the lemons they were dealt in life and how they grow to overcome them. If they had not met each other you get the feeling they both would have continue to struggle every day but they give each other a strength and grow to love each other which enables them ot overcome and conquer what life throws at them.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book after having received a free copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were very entertainig and I seeing their chemistry blossom. It was not too provocative but did capture their love for one another slowly building. The fact that he could communicate with the dead was an added bonus and added some funny moments. I would have preferred a little more humor but overall I enjoyed the love story between Austin and Laura very much. Aunt Marge was a hoot! )

I would give this book a 4 - 4.5 star rating. It was well written with very few typos.
When I started this book, I really wasn’t expecting it to be quite so…any of what it was. Austin is wounded, physically and psychologically, and is nearly at the end of his tether when he meets his neighbor Marge, and by extension her niece Laura. As it happens, Laura has firsthand knowledge and understanding of Austin’s challenges, due to her brother’s devastating accident two years prior. She also has nearly hit the end of her endurance, dealing with her brother’s recent death. I read all this in the blurb and thought it would be a simple story of redemption, but like life, it’s considerably more complicated. Austin needs tough love, but he also needs someone who understands the blow his confidence and pride have suffered. Laura honestly needs Austin’s apparent connection with her brother, at least at first, but more, she needs to learn that not everyone will leave her.

I certainly wasn’t expecting the snarky banter, tough love, ghosts, loopy-but-insightful Aunt Marge, or Austin’s wonderful friends, and neither is Laura. By opening herself to Austin, Laura not only gains love, but she enters a whole new circle of friends, which really is what life is about.

Of course, insecurities abound, but I was pleased that events that might have been made into issues never became a problem for the couple, as Ms. Beck did not take the easy way out. And surprisingly, the “voices” angle doesn’t go too far. I received an advance copy of this story in return for my honest review and I am so glad I took the chance on Ms. Beck’s first novel! I definitely will be keeping an eye out for her next book.
Extremely good. Ended too soon. Believable characters because a lot of times a writer will rush thru to get to the story and not develop the characters well.
I was pretty sure I would like this book, but no, I LOVED it. Austin and Laura are so easy to like, and it was fun watching them fall for each other. Talk To Me is a very sweet story that I didn’t want to put down, because it made my heart happy.
I enjoy reading stories with positive messages written with humor and likable characters. A happily ever after let's me end the book with a smile on my face. I got the book because it was free, but at having read it, I may have to actually pay for books by this author.... it was that good!
